Welcome....

Celebrate with cake is abit of a hobby of mine and all started by accident when family and friends started asking me to make cakes for them. I LOVE baking and I have been making cakes with my mum and my grandma since I was knee high so seems second nature to me. Before having my 2 beautiful girls I was an art student and have always had an eye for design. I think this is why I love decorating and designing cakes so much!!

I am relatively new to sugarcraft but am trying new projects everyday and love it! I thought this blog would be a great idea to log my progress and store some pictures of the things I make.

Evie's 2nd birthday - winnie the pooh picnic 14th Sept 2009

For my daughters 2nd birthday we decided on having a winnie the pooh picnic party outside in the gazebo. I thought long and hard about what kind of cake would suit the party best and when I'd drawn up my ideas a very talented family member (also into cake decorating) agreed to help me with the character models. I wanted the cupcakes to match in with the cake so decided on using green liquid fondant icing to look like grass and simply dotted on little sugar daisys and blossom to give the finishing touch. I did half the cupcakes chocolate sponge and half vanilla to give the guests a choice on what flavour cake they preferred. I find cupcakes alot easier to give out at partys and not only do they seem to keep fresher longer as they have the icing sealing the cake but look gorgeous stacked up on an acrylic stand.
